3 Weeks at Burn!

I am onto four weeks at Burn Bootcamp! I did say that I was going to talk about my experience, how I am feeling and the changes that has happened.I did write on how my first day experience what to expect when you go to Burn.

3 Weeks at Burn Bootcamp!

1st Week- I started on a Friday with a a partner. I left so sweaty and feeling the burn wondering what I got myself into. It was my first time having my boys into a childcare where my son yelled and stole toys. Monday and Tuesday was a little bit easier for me but it was still something to get used too.

My son was also getting used to things, he did push someone down and bit someones finger.

My boys were sick the rest of the week so we weren’t able to go, and I also got sick.

Tip: Don’t be afraid to take it slower and ask questions about anything that you are confused about workout or routine. The ladies will answer questions to help you along.

2nd Week- I was ready to be back in the gym, I was even craving it! I switch to the Burn gym that was closer to me, it only takes me less than 10 minutes to the gym compare to the 30 minutes.

I went ever single day, my body was sore and I was ready for a rest day. I love the atmosphere at the gym and I felt like quitting but did not. They do have modifications if you have issues that will be impacted by the workout.

Tips: Listen to your body and don’t be afraid to say if you have issues(ex. bad knee or bad back). They will modify to me sure your aren’t in any pain.

I didn’t see any changes in my body since it was only 2 weeks. I did notice that I had more energy. I was able to push myself more than before and I am not afraid to sweat.

I am Still going to the gym with my hubby 3x a week, If I have the energy to do so. I am pretty much going for hubby but ended up putting more into the running than I thought I would. I am not a person whom runs long distance or a long time. I haven’t made it past 5 minutes before on the treadmill but ended up running for 11:20.

I was so sweating and I felt like Jello but noticed that I was able to push the boundaries that were holding me back previously.

I also noticed that I have more confidence in myself and feeling myself getting out of my comfort zone!

3 weeks- It was a short week since there was no childcare on Labor Day! I felt that I wasn’t able to into the workouts after a long weekend. I kept pushing through and feel that some days I feel the burn and sweat and others not as much. I did need to go the chiropractor after one of the workouts and my body was in a much needed adjustment.

Tip: High Impact workouts can bother those that have back issues and see a chiropractor, don’t let that stop you. See the chiropractor a little bit more until your back is used to the impact.

My boy during these 3 weeks have changed also. He is treating others with better respect and there hasn’t been any incidents which makes this mama happy.

As I went through the 2nd and 3rd week, I moved my time up 8:30 for working out. It helps me get moving for the day and when I am done without the workouts, I am able to get more things done for the day.

I am going on 4 weeks and my goal is start working on my nutrition which is a major thing that I want to work on. I will be setting up a Focus meeting that will help me get on a better track!

Note: I chose Burn over BeachBody because I can’t workout in my home, I lack motivation. My son needed to be able to have time with other children to help him with social skills. I also deal with anxiety and getting out of the house helps me in ways than being at home.

I am sorry that this has taken long to be posted but life sure gets crazy around here. I am hoping to be more frequent on the updates in the future along this journey. I am still enjoying this and not regretting spending the $99 dollars to get into shape.

Burn Bootcamp

I felt the burn and man did it feel great. I took the plunge and signed up for burn boot camp and I am very happy with my decision. Today was the New Girl at Burn Bootcamp!

I Crushed My First Burn Bootcamp!

Wednesday, I went in and check out the place, asked all my questions and than I signed up on a whim. Normally, I talk it over with my hubby first and contemplate it for a bit than never do it. What sold me to do a Bootcamp that is in the long run is more expensive than anything I have ever done. Well I’ll tell you about my first day and you might see why.

I got there pretty early as I didn’t know how long it was actually going to take me to get to the gym. My son was actually pretty excited even though I was nervous since my boy is a little country man that can be well uncivilized (I am still working on taming him). I was able to sign the papers to have both my boys to be in the child’s room. I was less nervous as my boys seems to be content with their situation.

I waited until the trainer was ready to see consultation to talk about my background and fitness goals. She also took my weight, fat percentage(I think that is what she did) and measurements. She told me how things worked in the gym and I was becoming less nervous and more ready for the workout.

I was partnered up with someone that was a veteran to help me along the workout. e trainer also came around and showed me how to do the workouts if I needed, which I Thdid need. She explained each workout which was hard to follow along since I was taking everything in, plus the music was pretty hard to listen.

Everyone go on the floating floor and you started with the sumo squats than into half Burpees and I felt like I was going to die doing this. For me, I never got to the burn part of my workouts, I was never sweating by the end of the workout so I new this would be the first.

We were told what the workout was to be and how to do them, which was tough for me to follow, the also have it written on the board.  There was 5 workouts that we were to be doing, about 12 reps each and after you did workout you moved on but here is the kicker. Since we were all to be partnered up, one partner would be doing burpees until the person that was doing the workout was done. Oh did it BURN!

By the time that we were done, I felt that I needed to roll in snow to cool off. We weren’t exactly done until you did wall sits with or without weights in your lap while the other person was doing bicep curls(20 reps) than you switched off. You would do that until the trainer said done. That I really felt the BURN! I haven’t done wall sits in a long time.

We did some stretch to cool off while the trainer told us what was happening the next day or an event that was coming up. I was sweating pretty good and was curious how my son was doing in the child’s room. I did noticed that I couldn’t hear anything that was happening in the other room from the music that was playing and I didn’t see my oldest running out of the room so we must of been good.

Since I was new, I got my picture taken with a board saying that I finished my first camp. I will be going back until the 6 week program is done.

I changed into jeans since I needed to get stuff from Target and went into the Child’s room to pick up my 2 boys. My oldest looked like he was playing nicely and my youngest was in the car seat with an older boy playing with him to keep him calm. I did ask how my boy behaved and nothing surprises me on how he acts.

The report for that was: he doesn’t have volume control so he yelled a couple time and he hit another child a couple times. Which is why I chose to do this, my oldest doesn’t know how to share and he is uncivil no matter how much I work with him on it. In hopes that maybe he can slowly correct his bad habits in the Children’s room as he is playing with other children.

Next week I will be going 5 days out of the week and will be meeting with the trainer to talk about nutrition. I also needed to download a fitness tracker to report what I have been eating.

I will keep you all updated on everything goes on this new journey of mine. Funny thing, I will be going to the gym two times a day since my hubby wants to go at night on the regular days.

My Journey to Eating Healthier Without Dieting

I have been struggling with my diet, well I have always struggled with it and I always knew it needed to change. I decided that its better to start now than wait when it feels like its too late. I am going to make changes to my diet without dieting, I am not a fan of Fad Diets but I know that many people have made great transformations on it.

Add a heading (17)

What I would like to achieve is to balance out our meals, to limit the amount of process foods go in our diets and to introduce more foods. I want to a good role model when it comes to food and how I chose it, so my son feels that is what he should eat. Eating Healthier in hope will help boost my energy and feel better about my habits. I also hope that it will help achieve my fitness goal.

About my Diet Now and What I would Like to Change!

  • I am Kosher (always been), which means I don’t eat certain meats and sea foods.
  • I have a major sweet tooth, and sweet treats have become my daily snack. I would like sweet treats as an actual treat.
  • I enjoy fast food meals, especially McDonald’s. I have enjoyed more fast food meals that I like this month. I would like to make Fast food trips once every couple weeks not every other day.
  • Artificial sugar is my bodies nightmare if I have to much of it. I will get dizzy and my vision will go black if I  have a lot of Soda’s. So I have been able to limit my intake of sugary drinks.
  • I am not good at making decent lunches even though I am stay at home mom. I would like to put more time in my lunches even if its a simple salad or sandwich.
  • I struggle eating fruits and I don’t have much vegetables in my diet. I would like to make sure that I am going to add more fruits and vegetables in my diet, while introducing different varieties.
  • I would like to make snacking less of an occurrence but that will be difficult since I am nursing my son.
  • I will also focus on buying and making less process foods.

I will be trying to achieve my goals and changes by meal prepping and monthly meal planning. I know that I am not going to be perfect and will have to be kind on myself but hope that I am also going to learn  to have discipline when it comes to my appetite.

Eating Sugar, Ending My Challenge

For 2 weeks I was doing a challenge of not consuming sugary treats during the week time. I learned a lot in those 2 weeks and I would like to share a couple things about my challenge.

I was going to do a whole month of this no sugary treats but after those 2 weeks I will not. Now I am not giving up because I feel that I can’t do this challenge any longer as maybe it is tough but just ending it for me really good reasons. Hear me out.

I did this challenge because all I was doing was eating anything sugary; candy, chocolate, sweet treats(deserts), and ice cream. I was not feeling the greatest and even gotten a sugar headache and hangover. I knew something had to change so hence this challenge. I am also breastfeeding and my son wasn’t getting the best nutrition from me and my oldest boy whom watches what mama does was gaining the bad habit. I was also not eating regular meals as I was eating treats all day.

The good from doing this challenge. I was learning to have determination to change my diet to get healthier, and that I have self-control. I have always struggled with this and now I feel that if I change things to make it work for me than I can still keep going on breaking the bad habit.

Here comes my reason for no longer keeping to the challenge. I was indulging way to much when it came to cheat days and I was feeling guilty for that. I was not changing the other part of my diet which was majorly need. I wasn’t creating and eating balance meals, which is what I will be focusing on instead. Since I mentioned that I was doing this challenge on my blog, which is a lesson learned. I felt guilty every time I ate something sweet or indulged because I stated I was doing this.

I found out that I was not drinking the amount of water that I was suppose to, actually I was dehydrated and that was why I was consuming so much sugar. I was able to focus on bringing up my amount of water that I was drinking which was 6/7 glasses a day that is 1 glasses short. I will be still working on that to make sure that I am hydrated.

This challenge did teach me a couple things but I am going to say goodbye to it. I do hope that I keep getting better with my diet and still eat less sugar but I do enjoy my sweet here and there.

Health Diary Week 2

There was a couple days that I wanted to write this and post it, I didn’t know if I should wait a couple days after the first week was done to see how they weekend went and I also had to do some figuring out to make it easier this second week.I did wait since I wanted to write how it went with having some sugar during the weekend.

This whole no sugar challenge is by far the toughest that I have ever done but as I am doing it is the one of the best challenges that I am doing. I am making sure that I am taking care of my health and being a good example for my son who loves sugary treats.

There was only one day that I had caved which I had half a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup. I managed to skip the dessert line at church and a wedding, that was pretty tough since they all looked so darn great.

On Friday, I talked to my midwife about my issue with sugar and what I was doing. I also asked how much water I was to be drinking and was told that it was to be a gallon a day. I was shocked because I was only drinking two to four glasses a day( a tumbler equals 2 glasses) so for me I wasn’t drinking enough and was contributing for me eating a lot of sugar.

Every day I had to remind myself that I needed to drink lots of water and to skip on the sugar, I was struggling because it was a habit that I needed to break. The next day after eating ice cream I didn’t seem to have any struggle with sugar. Friday though which I made it to be a “cheat day” I had way to much sugar which also went into Saturday.

Saturday when I ate my dessert that I made, I actually couldn’t stand the taste of the dessert. I had to much of it and wanted to through it all out. I knew that I needed to keep going with this challenge and I am changing it a little bit since I created the challenge for myself.

I still want one or two days to have a break from the challenge. I will be doing it from Sunday to Friday afternoon. We make a special meal on Friday that I would like a small dessert to bring in the weekend. I will be pushing my water intake since I did feel much better with drinking about 7 glasses a day that I was getting in my system. I will be trying to make more balanced meals to incorporate in our diets.

I will say that I did go from eating sugar to having chips which is another weakness that actually makes me wish it was sugar. I will be trying to find a way of making healthier snacks and stay away from both of them.

Lets see if next week will be better!
