Moses and the ‘Mission Impossible’

If you ever watched the Mission Impossible Movies you know that the mission isn’t really that impossible, It’s the mindset that it’s impossible, makes it seem you can’t accomplish it.Moses is now being sent on the Mission to Deliver the Israelites out of Egypt, you will notice something that we all do now a days.  How he has set his mind to think that Adonai is asking him to do something Impossible. Moses on 'Mission Impossible'

Exodus Chapter 2:15- Chapter 4:23

“Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.” Exodus 2:15

In the The Fears of Pharaoh, As a Mighty Nation Rises, Moses killed a taskmaster out of ANGER and ran out of FEAR of Pharaoh, ending up in Midian were he met the daughter’s of Jethro (Priest) whom he helped water their flock. Moses was then invited to Jethro’s home where he was given one Jethro’s daughter Zipporah whom bared him a son.

“And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.” Exodus 2:25

During the time that Moses was in Midian, the Pharaoh died and a new Pharaoh came to reign. The Israelites cried to the YHVH about the BONDAGE that they were in, which Elohim heard their cries and groans and remembered the COVENANT that he made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Moses is now a shepherd to Jethro’s flock, taking them around the backside of Mt. Horeb in which he sees a bush in flames. Moses was going to go closer to the bush for he noticed that it was not being consumed by the flames, as he was stepping closer Moses were he was commanded to stop and to take off his shoes for he was on Holy Ground.

“Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face: for he was afraid to look upon God. And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt , and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;” Exodus 3:6-7

YHVH is calling Moses to serve as a guide for the Children of Israel out of Egypt to the land of Milk and Honey.  YHVH reassuring Moses that he will be with him through the whole ordeal, guiding him in what he is to say and the actions to take.

“And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11

“Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them. The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:” Exodus 3:16

The Elders will heed to your words and go with you to the see and to talk to Pharaoh. YHVH warned Moses that Pharaoh will not listen to him and will not let the Israelites go.

“And I will stretch out my hand and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst therof: and after that he will let you go.” Exodus 3:20

YHYH will show favor to Israelites over the Egyptians and that the Israelites will not go empty handed,  that the women will have abundance of clothing, jewels of silver and gold in which they will cover their children.

“And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.” Exodus 4:1

YHVH told Moses to toss his rod down on the ground and it became a serpent than YHVH told him to pick it up by its tail and it became a rod again. Which will help them believe that Adonai appeared to Moses.  Exodus 4:2-4

YHVH then told Moses to place hand chest in which he did and he took it away from his chest seeing that it was leprous as snow. YHVH told him to put it back on his chest again in which he did and took it off and looked at his hands as it was looked normal. Exodus 4:6-7

If they were not going to believe any of the two signs that he was to take water from the river and pour on dry land in which it will become blood. Exodus 4:8-9

Moses doubting that he doesn’t have the right ability to speak in front of Pharaoh for he is slow speech and tongue. YHVH saying that he was the one who created the mouth and tongue and that he would be his mouth and guide him in what he was to say. That didn’t stop Moses from freaking out and doubting YHVH in his abilities which angered YHVH. Moses asked for someone that would help him speak for the People.

YHVH told him that Aaron his brother will help him speak for he was on the way to see Moses. Moses will be able to tell Aaron what to say to the Pharaoh when it comes time. Moses and Aaron will both take the instructions from YHVH to guide the people out of Egypt, with the rod in hand, to do the signs that was shown to him.

“And Moses went and returned to Jethro  his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethen which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.” Exodus 4:18

Moses took his wife and sons with him to Egypt with the Rod of YHVH in his hands. YHVH told him that he needed to do all the miracles that he was told to do before Pharaoh but to expect that Pharaoh heart will be HARDENED.

“ And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.” Exodus 4:22-23

How many times have we doubted the abilities that YHVH has given us? How many times have we felt that we weren’t worthy of the mission that we were sent to do? Moses doubted his abilities, he doubted that he could deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. When we place the thoughts that we can’t do something, that we are weak and that we have no abilities,we are looking at life as a Mission Impossible.
