Is this a Dream, I have been married for over 3 years to my husband. I had a crush on him when I was 13 and he was 18. I thought I didn’t have a chance with him but it seems that I did.
How we Met!
I met my husband when I moved to the Mississippi area at the church I started going to. My husband is a country man through and through, so when I first say him, he was wearing jeans, plaid shirt and cowboy boots, oh was he cute.
About Us During That time
I was 13 years old, so lets talk about that for a minute. I was an awkward, talkative, boy crazy girl with no filter. I was troubled and dealing with addiction and family issues at the same time.I didn’t know how to make decent friendships without making it weird. As I look back, I had a lot of to figure out and to work through.
My husband was 18 years old at that time, he graduated school around the time that I came there. He talked about anything, cars, trucks or logging. He was nice to everyone in church and he was respectful to anyone even if they didn’t deserve it. He was funny and charming. He went to college for electrical degree of sorts and graduated at the top of his class. After that he worked with father as a logger.
I went to the private church school 4 years and during that time, I was able to work through a lot of the issues that I had and to grow as a person. I was able to become friends with a lot of the church members and the students there. Junior and Senior year I went to a boarding school and during that time I was in an on and off relationship. I will say that I still liked Joel but didn’t feel that I was going to have a chance.
The Beginning of Something Romantic
I graduated high school in 2014, I ended up single in the middle of summer and vowed to stay that way. That was short lived when I got the guts to ask Joel out on a date, I did it to see if he actually liked me because there felt to be hints of something but wasn’t sure. He surprised me and actually agreed to go on a date. It was my first date ever and felt it to be awkward, oddly at first I didn’t think there wasn’t any connection. I got weird the next sabbath at church and people thought I was being rude. They didn’t realize that I had a lot of fears and was unsure of everything.
4 more dates later, he asked me to officially be his girlfriend on the top of hill overlooking the Mississippi river. January 2015 made it 6 months which was when he asked me to marry him(nothing fancy) and I said yes to him. I started planning our wedding while still going to school. My husband started creating blueprints for our home and by summer time he started building the house.
During the time I was engaged to my Joel, I was also figuring out that I was dealing with anxiety that seemed to have gotten pretty bad during that time. I was amazed at how much Joel stuck around instead of thinking I was a crazy and leave. Being in engaged for a year was very long for us and Joel was ready to take me to the courthouse.
January 3,2016, we got hitched and ever since then its been a fun roller coaster of being married. We have been married for 3 years now and have two little boys. There was times were I would be laying in bed and felt that I was dreaming and I would wake up from it but this dream isn’t over yet.
